Sebastian Copeland

Sebastian Copeland is a photographer, explorer and climate advocate whose captivating images of polar landscapes transport us to the frozen regions of our planet. Copeland captures the ever-changing beauty of polar ice, and conveys the urgency of action on climate change and sustainable growth. His images of transient beauty are a stark reminder of a frozen world that is slipping away, as glaciers recede, sea levels rise, and the summer lengthens in the polar regions. Copeland’s work often features icebergs and their luminous reflections, framed by darkened skies and heavy clouds. As we search for our own reflections in this vulnerable landscape, will we find the creatures of habit or the agents of change within each of us? Copeland’s expeditions are grueling journeys that test resolve and summon the ability to adapt to changing conditions. These bold treks into the unknown are a powerful metaphor for the journey we must take to secure our collective, one-planet future.
