Millions of Pieces:
Only One Puzzle
World Environment Day,
Kigali, Rwanda, June, 2010
At the invitation of the United Nations Environment Programme, Art Works For Change participated in World Environment Day (WED) 2010, hosted in Kigali, Rwanda. The theme for WED 2010, Many Species. One Planet. One Future, is to underscore the significance of biodiversity and the urgent need for conservation action.
Art Works for Change sent the Venezuelan artist, Antonio Briceno, to Rwanda to photograph its many environmental challenges, from overcoming poverty to developing sustainable energy resources to solving land degradation. The exhibition, titled "Millions of Pieces: Only One Puzzle," addresses the importance of our diverse species and ecosystems, and how they contribute to human well-being through their impact upon medicine, climate, food production, energy, design, and culture.

Off the Beaten Path/AFRICA
Launch date 2012
The relevancy and urgency of the issue of violence against women and girls, combined with the power of exhibition's artwork, is attracting strong interest in Africa for Off the Beaten Path: Violence, Women and Art. As a result, Art Works for Change has created an Off the Beaten Path: West Africa adaptation based on the original exhibition, focused on the unique artistic visions, voices, and communities of Senegal, Ghana, and Nigeria.
With our in-country partners — Réseau Africain d'Education pour la Santé (RAES), UNESCO Breda, Ministry of Families, Population Media Center, PLAN International, and others — AWFC is serving as a catalyst within the community to facilitate programming and cohesion.
